Snowmobiling

This is an excerpt from a letter to Margaret, dated October 14, 1998:

"This is how I interact with nature in Winter!  I just 'love' to bundle up real warm, then head my sled into the forest, with a thermos of something hot, like tea or soup... find a view that really moves me... and stop there for a while to absorb it all!"

"My favorite times are at night, with a sky filled with stars... and the only sounds you hear are those of the wind, and your own breathing... the rest is silence!"

"It's also neat finding the tracks of different kinds of animals in the snow...  and trying to determine how fresh those tracks are... and if the animal is still close by, and perhaps watching you at that very moment!  'I LOVE IT'!"
