COMMENTS: My Uncle Gordon...
I was fortunate enough to have met Uncle Gordon once when I was only eight years old and my younger brother had just been born and named after him. But that one meeting was enough to last me for the rest of my Life.

Unfortunately Uncle Gordon's family [in Scotland] are not able to access the internet so I would like you to know that I am speaking for everyone. We miss you but we are grateful that you found a fantastic wife and you both created an amazing daughter to add to the Black family.

We always thought Uncle Gordon would be single forever. We all knew that it would take a very special person to capture the heart of this gentle man.

I was very lucky to have spoken with Uncle Gordon only weeks before the accident.

COMMENTS: What a lovely memorial to a special person. We in Glasgow are so glad to have been part of your Honeymoon in Scotland, and to be part of those special memories.

COMMENTS: Margaret, this is a beautiful tribute to a man so few people really knew. I worked with Gordie for almost 25 years, in different capacities, almost all of which were in Coke's service shop. There's never a day goes by that I don't drive by a call that we worked at together and it always brings a smile to my face.

We often talked about things we wanted to do together. Like too many, we put things off till later. I regret that we put off way too much of what we wanted to do. Gordie was my friend, and I miss him.

COMMENTS: Thank you for sharing the memories of Gordie's life; both in singular life and family one as well. His love for Mother Nature, her animals, as well for his family are certainly shown in all the pictures and writings. Once again, let us thank you for sharing. You did a wonderful job compiling this site.

COMMENTS: I worked with Gord at Coke and still miss his sense of humour. I know you have spent a lot of time developing this web page and I think you have done a wonderful job. Thank you for sending me the link. Gord is not forgotten here at Coke and I personally miss him very much. He was a fun lad to work with.

COMMENTS: I knew Gordon in many ways but never understood the depth of his personality or all his talents that are displayed in this wonderful memorial. Gordon was a complex person, gruff and tough on the outside, and a soft, sensitive one on the inside. His marriage to you, Margaret, and the subsequent birth of your daughter really transformed him and brought him happiness that I suspect he never hoped to find.

His love of life is beautifully illustrated here and anyone knowing Gordon will recognize how much the outdoors meant to him. You have conveyed this superbly.

Margaret, you have done an outstanding job of keeping Gordon's unique view of life alive, even if he is no longer with us. I'm sure he's smiling as he looks over our shoulders while we view your memories of him and all the things you have done to celebrate him and his life. This will increasingly become important for your daughter and she will be able to know her father as she grows and understands more. This is a wonderful legacy for her.

This memorial to your husband is a tribute to the great love you obviously have for him. I did not know him...and only know you through the Internet and our mutual affection for Algonquin Park... but I wish I had met Gordon. He was obviously a fortunate man to have you in his life. Having lost my wife just short of four years ago to A.L.S. I have a small sense of the loss and sorrow you must feel. Each of us has his or her own relationship with a partner, and you have enriched my life by sharing a bit of your relationship with Gordon with me through this web page.

I have just spent the last while reading Gordon's memorial pages. As usual, your love for a husband and a dad has moved me to tears. I never met Gordon but feel I 'know' him through your thoughts, words, emails, and stories of such a 'gentle man.' You, Margaret, are a truly remarkable, wonderful person and mother. I can only imagine how wonderful a person and dad Gordon must be, to have had you in his life. Thank you for sharing such special memories.

COMMENTS: Mrs. Black, I wish you success in your campaign to improve vehicle safety in Ontario. While I never had the good fortune to know your husband, your web site shows him as a loving, cherished and inspired person. I can only guess how much he will be missed through the years by you and your daughter.

COMMENTS: I didn't know this man, but from looking at this website I can tell your husband was very much loved. It's apparent he made a difference in your life. This is a great tribute to a great man. Thanks for creating it and for giving us a glimpse into his life. We should all be loved as much.

COMMENTS: I am so sorry for the death of your beloved. My husband died suddenly and unexpectedly at age 40 when we had just moved and had an almost 12 year old and a 4 month old. My heart truly goes out to you.
