This is an excerpt from a letter to Margaret, dated November 23, 1998:
"I enjoy making stews, and soups from scratch... with all fresh veggies and stuff."
Gordon also baked
his own bread, experimented with stir frys, roasted the occasional chicken or
turkey and perfected the art of cooking eggs (at home or in the
wilderness). Margaret used to refer to him as, "The Egg-Meister."
