A Brother's Passing

This is a poem Gordon wrote after the death of his brother, at age 55:

For my wee brother Archie
Though this poem's come to late
I was thinking of you, at an earlier date

Of the sigh of relief
When your wife went away
A return to normality and peace, I would say

But now you are gone
And I miss you so bad
I've lost a dear brother, your daughters... their dad

But my strength is the belief
The we 'will' meet again
Not a matter of 'If', just a matter of 'When'

Although I may weep
When I'm thinking of you
I only cry... for your years were too few

So wait there my Brother
And don't stray too far
For again we'll be together... in the place where you are.
